H.E Ambassador Moses Kiwe Sebunya presided over the celebrations marking 48th Anniversary of Uganda's independence with Ugandan community in Tunisia. In his address, the Ambassador pointed out that the celebrations of 48 years should be focused on Uganda's 24 years of peace and recovery.
He appreciated the community's continued quality of service to the African Development Bank Group which has contributed to the improvement of the quality of life of the people of Uganda, East Africa and Africa.

Uganda will participate in the 3rd Africa-EU Summit slated for the 29-30 November, 2010 in Tripoli Libya. The theme of the summit is "Investment, Economic Growth and Job Creation. Prior to the summit there will be Afro-European Youth Conference from the 25th to 28th November, 2010 that will be followed by the AU Executive Members meeting of Foreign Ministers.

The Government of Algeria has offered Uganda Government 40 Scholarships to Ugandan students in 2010. This will bring to a total of 246 Ugandan students currently in various Universities in Algeria pursuing various fields of studies ranging from Medicine, Computer Science, Agronomy, Economics & Commercial, Languages among others.

African Development Bank President, Donald Kaberuka, Takes Oath of Office for Second Term. President Donald Kaberuka was sworn in Wednesday, September 1 in Tunis for a second five-year term (2010 -2015) as the head of the African Development Bank (ADB) Group. Uganda Ambassador commended his unwavering support to Uganda's Market Infrastructure, Agriculture, Energy, Education, Water/sanitation and Road development totaling to US$ 1 billion since 2005. A total of 12.6 billion US dollars has been distributed
in FY 2009/2010 to reduce poverty and underdevelopment across Africa against US$ 5.5 in the previous year.

Uganda will participate in the Afro Arab Summit that is scheduled to take place in Tripoli, Libya from 9th to 12th October, 2010. One of the preceding activities is the high level fora on Arab African cooperation on investment and trade that will start from 25th to 26th September, 2010. Two Uganda investors from Spencon Uganda Ltd and King Stone Enterprise Uganda are expected to participate.

The Government of Morocco and Entrepreneurship Group in conjunction with General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco have organized and invited Uganda stakeholders to participate in African Entrepreneurship Forum on Business and Investment promotion between Morocco and African countries. The 2 day forum is scheduled to take place in Balneaire Mazagan ground from 11 to 12 March, 2010 in Morocco. The Forum which will be attended by 700 entrepreneurs in Africa will focus on Morocco as a strategic gateway to Africa. It is intended to create investment opportunities and trade between the North and the Southern regions of Africa. African Development Bank (ADB) to give Uganda US$ 125.6 million for the road sector. This will include civil works to upgrade the 143 Kms to bitumen standards of Nyakahita, Ibanda, Kamwenge roads in addition to installing a weighing bridge as well as a resettlement plan for Kayunga, Galilaya (83kms) Hoima - Butiaba, Wanseko (111kms) in central-north Uganda.

Uganda has received invitation to participate at the 39th Tripoli International Fair scheduled from 2 to 12 April, 2010 at Tripoli International Trade Fair, Libya. Government departments and private companies will show-case Uganda's industrial and agricultural products.

Libya Investment Portfolio (LAP) is set to expand its investment ventures in Uganda which include 4 gas stations by Oil Libya and Mineral exploration. Dr. Ali Zwalik, the Director of Libya's mineral investment led the negotiating team to Uganda in January, 2010. Other major Libya's investments in Uganda include; Banking sector, Infrastructure, Communication, Tam Oil, Hotel, Fruit making and Agriculture. According to Uganda Investment Authority(UIA), Libya was the second biggest foreign investor in the year 2008/09.

Uganda will host the 15th International African Water Congress (Afwa) and Exhibition from 15th to 18th March, 2010. The Ministry of Water and Environment and other AMCOW partners (UN, AU, ADB, World Bank, GTZ etc) have organized the conference under the theme energy and Climatic change challenges and perspectives facing water and sanitation service provision. Libya, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia delegations are expected to attend.
