Four years after the 1969 Revolution in Libya, both countries established reciprocal diplomatic representation and fully fledged Embassies were opened in each other's capital (Kampala and Tripoli respectively in 1973).
Since then, the relationship between the two countries has been cordial and good, strengthened by many high level visits by the two leaders, the most recent one being of H.E Yoweri Museveni in 2007 and Brother Col. Muamar Ghadaffi in March, 2008.
Under the proposed establishment of the Joint Permanent Commission, more economic ties and prospects are bound to be enjoyed by the two countries in fields of trade and investment, infrastructure, technology and communication, the draft JPC is already in Kampala pending approval.
Libya through Arab friendship has supported Uganda through the framework of OIC, ICIC and the Afro-Arab Conferences in the field of banking, social infrastructure and construction industry.
